GMW – is an annual awareness-raising campaign on the importance of ensuring that young people, from an early age, are financially aware, and are gradually acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions.
Global Money Week (GMW) - an OECD coordinated event that takes place annually in 176 countries on 18-24 March.
In order to support the project, at the invitation of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), which is the national coordinator of the financial education process, Comerțbank organizes financial education activities and familiarizes children from an early age with banking terms to promote the importance of financial education and help make financial decisions in adult life.
The bank's representatives held educational-interactive lessons for 4th grade primary school children from:
- "Elena Alistar", Theoretical High School of Arts in Chisinau, 36 pupils;
- "Gloria", Theoretical High School of Sport in Chisinau 27 pupils.
"Comerțbank organized these lessons of financial education in order to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the financial-banking area. Financial education is very important for the whole society. We want a developing economy and a financially educated society", mentioned Elena Cușnir, Deputy Chairwoman of the Managing Board.
During the lessons, children were familiarized with financial-banking terms, discovered banking activities, had the opportunity to test money counting devices, check the authenticity of banknotes and participated in competitions.
At the end of the lesson, the students received a certificate of participation and other gifts from Comerțbank. Photos from the lessons can be viewed in the album posted on the Facebook page.
